The Regional Planning Commissioners of Ontario (RPCO) are community building leaders in member municipalities who are committed to actively advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
RPCO recognizes that there is much work to do in better supporting EDI, and that a variety of policies, practices, terms and definitions exist that seek to expand our knowledge and to educate. We are changing as our collective understanding evolves.
Engaging, listening, understanding, and involving people with a variety of attributes and identities is core to our work. This commitment must make people who have historically been excluded and under-represented (or who have been or are the subject of racism and discrimination) more regular and active participants who will inform our work. This includes women, the LGBTQIA2S+ communities, Indigenous People, People of Colour, racialized communities, and people with disabilities.
We believe that everyone should feel included and that everyone should be treated equitably with respect and empathy.
